Mental health issues are severe with this family member. Things done and said that can’t easily be forgiven. His wife/stepdaughters have tons of issues, too. It’s not me who they need forgiveness from. It’s the people they hurt. Thank you for sharing that with me Leigh Ann. 😊

Are there any suggestions that can help with brain health, when dealing with someone who has a substance abuse/alcohol problem?

I grew up in an addicted family and I certainly understand how hard it is. Stress is a real contributor for negative effects of health (especially brain health). For that circumstance specifically, I would suggest AlAnon (it was a huge relief for me in my life) and if you can’t get to a meeting, order the book for it online. “How Al-anon Works”


Forgiveness is the key. Addiction is the hardest thing to forgive for those who aren’t addicted. People who are addicted have no ability to care about the harm they cause until/unless they get sober. And then, making amends can be the hardest thing and often causes addicts to relapse because they have to really face their pas…
